The term podiatrist is more commonly used today than chiropodist to denote a foot specialist. Podiatry is the diagnosis and treatment of foot and ankle disorders. Our podiatrists are trained to give you the latest treatment and advice to prevent, reduce or eliminate foot pain.
We strive to provide exceptional care to all patients, young and old, to ensure they can get back to doing the things they love. See our COMMON FOOT PROBLEMS page above for conditions we see and treat regularly.
Susan Fitzgerald-Giffney has over 30 years experience in footcare beginning her career as a nurse and midwife. She is registered with the Health Service Executive (H.S.E.) and holds membership with the Irish Chiropodists/Podiatrists Organisation. Susan has a well established practice in Gorey and provides domiciliary care to local residential homes. She has a keen interest in routine podiatry, skin and nail conditions but just loves feet! Susan works Monday, Tuesday and Friday in the clinic.
Grace Giffney graduated from the University of Brighton in 2008 before spending 2 years in a hospital in rural Western Australia working with high risk feet and complications arising from diabetes. She returned home to rejoin the practice in 2011 where her interest remains in the prevention and management of diabetic foot problems, alongside biomechanics. Grace currently works Wednesday, Thursday and Saturdays in the clinic in Gorey. Grace also works as a senior podiatrist on the diabetes team in Tallaght Hospital.
